How to Write a UGC Brief That Gets You a Video That Sells
A UGC brief is a one-page working document: the product, the buyer, the one message — and the must-show moments. Write it this way and the creator films once, correctly, with usage rights agreed in writing before anyone films.

What a brief is for
A UGC brief is a one-page working document, not a script. It hands the creator everything they need to be accurate — the product, the buyer, the one message — and then leaves them room to sound like themselves. New to UGC itself? Start with What Is UGC? — then this guide. A good brief is what separates a video that sells from a video that needs three rounds of fixes: the creator films once, correctly, because the decisions were made before the camera moved.
The one-page structure
- The product and its buyer, one line each. "A leave-in conditioner for curly hair, for women who stopped straightening" directs a video; three paragraphs of brand history direct nothing.
- One problem per video. Pick the single angle this video exists to land. A video about everything converts on nothing.
- Three must-show moments. The texture, the product in real use, the result next to something familiar for scale.
- The never-say list. Claims you cannot back up, promises your category restricts, competitor names. This line protects you, not just the creator.
- Format basics. Vertical 9:16, the product in use in the opening moment, captions on — a large share of viewing happens on mute.
What ships with the brief
The product itself, early — filming cannot start before it arrives. If a post or ad of yours already performed, send it as a tone reference, never as a template to copy. And fix the deliverables in writing before filming: the video count, raw footage yes or no, and the usage scope — the rights subject is covered in full in our UGC Ads & Whitelisting guide.
Usage rights, agreed in writing
Usage rights for organic and paid use are agreed up front, so the content you pay for stays yours to run: where the video may appear, on which platforms, and for how long. Whitelisting — running the video as a paid ad from the creator's own handle — is a separate permission inside the same agreement, arranged per creator and in writing before filming. Creators in the network have produced UGC for brands including Riyadh Season, Saudi Tourism Authority, flynas, Saudia, realme, Domino's, TikTok Live and Zanussi.
How it works with UGC Company
- Brief. Tell us the product, the market and the goal — through the brief form, the booking page or WhatsApp — and we turn it into the one-page brief above.
- Creator match. We shortlist verified creators who fit your product and dialect. You approve the list.
- Content made. Creators film to the brief, we review every video against it, and you get clean, ready-to-post files.
- Review and re-cut. One review round against the brief; winning videos are re-cut into fresh variants for the next round.
- Run it everywhere. Product pages, organic posts and paid ads — with the usage scope agreed in writing first.
